15, 2005 The Halloween show at the Pocket, and the NY INVASION Bus Trip were amazing!!! Special thanks to Red River Soul, MEGAHERTZ, INK, Kai Blackwood and the Tokyo Death Squad, 6 Second Crush and NOMAD…great bands = great times. A very special thanks to Gina (GinaMartini.com) for capturing all the madness and a very special thanks to all our friends/family/fans for coming out and making every show an event…you guys rock! Now onto new business…Saturday Dec. 3rd we return to Side St. Grille for yet another chapter in the "Babe of the Month" Shows...as always, the audience judges, and the winner receives $100 Cash and their picture on the GotBigED.com homepage…Then just 1 week later, Dec. 10th, we head back to the Pocket with our good buds INK and NOMAD for what's shaping up to be quite the holiday extravaganza!! If this show is anything like the Halloween Show, you'd probably be wise to get a designated driver and clear your plans for the next day…These 2 shows will be the last shows of the year, and for a lil' while into the new year. As was planned earlier this year (but we got side-tracked...lol), we're going to take a short hiatus to work on various side projects and new material, and then we'll be back, LOUDER and even more ABRASIVE than before. 15, 2005 Lot's of catching up to do, so let's rock…There's been some obvious changes on the website (Buttons, Big ED festive logo, "Missing" section, etc) and a few hidden surprises (You'll REALLY have to look around for these though…hehheh) so we hope you enjoy what we've been AND are gonna be doing with it. Big ED on E-Bay??? It's true, the "EGGS" CD is on there, and at a starting price of $0.99, there's sure to be a major bidding war…The "INFAMOUS" Frontage Rd. Big ED sign was finally taken down :( , along with the WHOLE Toy's R' Us and Bradlees building(We forgot to tell them it was a load bearing sign…LOL!)…There's 6 new websites on our links page- Black Tear Promotions(Big ED alumni-Lisa the Photo Goddess and the Lovely Heather's new project), Diminishing Jim (Big Jim's in yet ANOTHER band…heehee), Stickless Joy (They'll be at HDL on Oct 26th and all's we can say is, they'll be talking about this one for years to come..LOL), Emerald City Landscaping (Randy's brother, Ray, does all sorts of Custom land design, water fountains, lawncare, etc… quite honestly every AND anything involving landscaping at very reasonable prices!), CT Local Music Scene(TJ McNamara & Mike Esposito are doing a kick ass job on showcasing the who's who in the local band community and we're glad they're our friends!) and last but definitely not least, GinaMartini.com is up and running and she has a shitload of pix that are up and will be going up in the next few weeks (Gina is also the Big ED photographer AND creator of the new festive Big ED logos!),rumor has it she'll be getting pix from other local band photographers ,thus bringing the local community THAT much closer..awww!...Now onto the main reason we're all here…PORN!!!!...j/k…..The Corner Pocket 1 Year Anniversary/Halloween Party on Sat. Oct. 29th is shaping up to be a classic…Red River Soul, MEGAHERTZ, INK and Big ED ??? Are you fuckin' kiddin me?? NO, we're not…This has got to be 1 of (If not the best) the greatest line-ups to date at the Pocket PLUS it's FREE admission, FREE giveaways, $100 Best Costume prize AND it's a PARTY and you know how we feel about partying!! After the Pocket, it's off to the PussyCat Lounge in New York (Thursday Nov. 10th) and that means…BUS TRIP!!! Now, this isn't going to be a regular out of control, completely insane Big ED bus trip(see "Bystander Suicide" Video...hehheh), No, No, we're bringing our buds Kai Blackwood and the Tokyo Death Squad, 6 Second Crush and the Bad Boys of Nomad!! Seating is EXTREMELY limited, so please let us know ASAP if you plan on attending (More info will be provided in up and coming weeks). Now after New York, Big ED will be taking a few month Hiatus (For Real THIS TIME), so we can retool our show and come up with some brand new kick ass tunes for your listening pleasure/displeasure…hehheh. 19, 2005 3 Days of "Raising Cash & Hell" didn't necessarily get off without a hitch, but we'll get to that in a few seconds…1st off, A major congrats to UltraRadio.com's, Mr. Monday Night, Craven, for yet ANOTHER successful Gulf Coast Relief show (last Thursday at The Pocket again), when all was said and done, he along with SOME of CT's finest bands raised $2000 for the American Red Cross, AND then THAT money was DOUBLED by a local bank, so $4000 went to the cause !! A highlight of the evening was when Big ED's own Gina Martini presented a check to Craven, from her co-worker Kirsten Livingston in the name of Big ED for $200!!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH KIRSTEN, JEFF (her hubby) AND CARL (her son)...That ROCKED!!!!! The next night (Friday) we found ourselves at JJ Toons in South Windsor with our good buds NOMAD and NEW buds INCOMING. Right off the bat, let's just say, they are 2 of the most professional and talented bands we've ever dealt with AND they're KICK ASS guys as well! We opened the show (with some sound issues believe it or not…hehheh) and just when things started to fall in place…SNAP,CRACKLE, POP…Clifford screwed up his neck headbangin' to "Bystander"!! We later found out he suffered (and still is..lol) a MAJOR WHIPLASH!! NOW THAT'S ROCK n' ROLL!!!!!!!!! Cliff was a trooper and finished the set, but could barely move afterwards!! So now that our set was over it was time for INCOMING then NOMAD to takeover…AND takeover they did! We say this a lot in the news, but you REALLY should check out these 2 Bands…They're both solid, Hard Rockin',tight ass bands, that you WILL be hearing ALOT more off in the near future! Special thanks goes out to Bill (Nomad) and Brian (Incoming) for having us on the show…You guys Rock !! Now, the very next night (Saturday) we were slated to play the "Cancer Sucks, So Let's Raise Some Bucks!" show, but with Cliff immobile, we had to cancel our very 1st show (Considering we've played over 100+ shows in 2 ½ years, that's not a bad record!)…But that didn't mean we didn't show up, drink up, and most of all support the cause! Matty "John Bonham" Getzewich even won a cooler with a built in radio…sweet! We'd also like to thank Richie & Sue, Chrissy & Danielle, Bill from Nomad, and a few other peeps that came out to support anyway. A very special thanks also goes out SmackSeven for picking up the slack and rockin' out with a longer set…KICK ASS GUYS! AWESOME JOB goes out to Big Josh & Chris!! Now, with Clifford recovering, we're preparing for our next show, which will be UltraRadio.com's Hard Drive Live at the Alchemy (Weds. Sept.28th) with our good friends Nomad and (by popular demand!) Big ED alumnus Master P. and the Boys of 6 Second Crush!!! This is gonna be a blast, considering for 1) we ALWAYS have a blast with these guys AND 2)Minus Kai Blackwood & The Tokyo Death Squad, This is the show we're bring to the PussyCat lounge in NY on Thursday Nov. 10th!! So it's a pre-party of sorts (speaking of the NY show…4 Bands, 1 Bus Trip…you guys know where we're going with this…hehheh…details will follow very soon, so stay posted!). Then on Friday Sept. 30th, That's right, 2 Days after the Alchemy show…it's that time of the month again…heehee…BABE OF THE MONTH TIME!!!!! AND this time, Pthalo will be our special guests, and only GOD knows what will take place when Nolan and the boys are in toe!! If you can't wait until the 28th to get more Big ED, our fearless (and very sore at the moment!) frontman, Clifford, has his 2 mini-masterpiece movies, Lucky Penny 1 & 2 playing in the New Haven Film Fest 9/22-9/25! We'll be there supporting him, so come on down, hang out and do the same, it's sure to be crazy as is any and all Big ED events(see CronanStock)! 13, 2005 LOT's of News this week so let's get right to it….Masters of Metal 3 last Saturday rocked, a HUGE Thank you, to our brothers of Metal, Nasty Disaster, and the Monkey wielding madmen of Kai Blackwood and the Tokyo Death Squad…they both rocked the fuckin' Pocket ! If you were there, you would have noticed Big ED drummer extraordinaire (AND original Nasty Disaster drummer for those of you keeping track at home) Antonio pulling double duty!! He jammed with Nasty just minutes before the show (after not playing with them in years!!) and played a searing set of METAL!!! Kick ass Job Ant! Congrats goes out to current Nasty D. drummer Rikki Stixx and his wife for giving birth to future metalhead, Rikki Stixx Jr.!! …The 3 Day's of "Raising Hell & Cash" weekend is upon us, so we hope everyone is geared up and ready…It starts this Thursday Sept. 15th at the Pocket for Craven's Gulf Coast Relief Party Version 2.0. He had Version 1.0 just last week and raised over $1200 for the American Red Cross!! But now with the help of Diminishing Jim (Big Jim of Megahertz), Spicy White Chicken, Echoing August, SelfMadeSoul and yours truly we're hoping to up the ante just a lil' more ! Then this Friday Sept. 16th, we're gonna make our way to JJ Tunes in South Windsor for an absolute night of madness with our good friends Nomad and Incoming!! This show is going to fuckin' Rock, so we hope to see you there ! Then on Sat. Sept. 17th at the Hard Hat Café in North Haven, We're doing a benefit to help the father of our good friends, Josh & Chris, who is suffering from cancer AND the cost of it. We'll be hitting the stage around 9ish and our old buds SmackSeven will be on immediately after for your listening pleasure. It's gonna be a great time for a great cause…Also, If you're out and about on Sat. afternoon check GotBigED.com's, Man with all the answers, VJ, as he looks to win his 3rd straight Chili Cook off !! This one is at East Shore Park (Woodward Ave) in New Haven and runs from 11-5, so go support VJ and your stomach!!!! Rumor has it that underground Norwegian Metal Band "Stickless Joy" will be reuniting and making a VERY RARE appearance at an upcoming HDL, so keep your eyes out for that one…Also a MAJOR thanks to Gina Martini for not only taking the Big ED pix, BUT sizing, sharpening, editing, etc…all of them. Thanks Martini! Our good buddy Vinnie Penn is at it again ! He's gonna be temporarily running "Vinnie Penn's Package" on UltraRadio.com, starting Sept. 19th every weekday morning at 10! 7, 2005 In the wake of Hurricane Katrina AND the 4th anniversary of the Sept. 11th attacks, We would like to extend our thoughts and prayers out to all of those affected both directly and indirectly by these tragedies, and also a Big ED THANK YOU to the service men and women who provide us the opportunity to keep ROCKIN' IN THE FREE WORLD !!!! In regards to Hurricane Katrina, there has been an outpouring of support Worldwide and most importantly Nationwide…We won't get into politics here, but as usual, WE THE PEOPLE are the ones stepping up and taking care of our own. So a major Big ED THANK YOU to you as well..You Fuckin' ROCK !!!!!! Speaking of stepping up, UltraRadio.com's Craven a.k.a. Mr. Monday Night a.k.a. MRC a.k.a. Craig (How many nicknames does this guy have???) has stepped up by leaps and bounds and organized a Hurricane Katrina Relief this Thurs. Sept. 8th at The Corner Pocket in Orange…and there's a who's who in the local music scene supporting this cause (We'll be there supporting, but not playing, so come on down and hang out with us !!), so kudos to you Mr. Monday Night !!! Well since we've mentioned the Pocket, we might as well mention..MASTERS OF METAL 3 ~ BEER, MONKEYS & METAL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This SAT. night at the pocket. We are going to be joined by the Monkey Wielding Madman himself, Kai Blackwood and the Tokyo Death Squad AND get this..our good friends,and the HEAVIEST METAL BAND in the Land, Nasty Fuckin' Disaster !!!! This is gonna be a night of celebration (Martini's B-day is Friday), friendships (Richie and Sue's return from vacation), and of course, Beers,Monkeys and Metal (You can figure those out for yourselves..hehheh)!! We also have a HUGE WEEKEND planned for next week, but more on that, well, next week ! The website is going through some new changes, so please bear with us, as Antonio & Randy try to keep it as exciting as Clifford has for the past year or so (The Side St. and Mario's Pix are coming..we promise!!). 31, 2005 We're back and business has picked up!!!! 1st off, A major THANK YOU to everyone who came out to Side St. for the return of the Babe of The Month contest..this prestigious list includes..Lisa the Photo Goddess, Chrissy S. and her brother, Eddie, RichieRich Martin, Stephanie, The WHOLE UltraRadio.com crew, Kellie and his cutie, Josh, Erica and the 1 and only "banned from Side St. and now back again" (Special thanks to Bob!!) Miss Sarah (Among a shit load of other people)!! Craven aka Mr. Monday Night, thanks for the introduction! As well as an incredible show of unity and support from the biggest names in the local music scene…INK, Pthalo, CO2, FreshWasco, Stickless Joy, Incoming and Nomad (More on Nomad and Incoming in a bit),etc.. Now let me just say, for anyone who doubts the CT music scene…FUCK OFF!!! United we stand, Divided we fall!! So please, take some time out to check out all of these great bands sites or even better yet, their LIVE shows, you will not be disappointed!!! Now, congrats goes out to our new Babe of the Month Sadie who won in an extremely close contest against Joe-Ann and Nicole (Who are always Side St. Babes!!). Then as if Fri & Sat weren't enough, We headed over to Otto's Shrunken Head in NY for a show with Stolen Cherry and Zed Never (Thanks to Laurel and Jonsey for this one). You Rule Veej!!) So what's next you ask?? Well we're returning to the Pocket (Sat. Sept. 10th) for (Back By Popular demand!) Big ED's Master's of Metal Show #3~BEERS, MONKEY'S, AND METAL!! This is a HUGE line-up and is sure to be a packed show…It's our 1st show alongside the ALWAYS Rockin, and ALWAYS entertaining Kai Blackwood and the Tokyo Death Squad, PLUS Big ED Favs and our brothers of Metal NASTY FUCKIN' DISASTER!!!!!!!!! We really don't know what else can be said about this show! Then a week later, Big ED joins their new friends Nomad and Incoming for our 1st show at JJ Toons in South Windsor!! 22, 2005 Let's start off with, Mario's and Funnel kick ass!!! We had 1 of the best times we could recall (And usually we can't recall too much...damn alcohol!!!) The BIG pre-Hiatus (We'll talk about the hiatus in a min.) show at Mario's was nothing short of AWESOME. A special shout out to the boys in Funnel, for 1) Providing a funnel and 2) Kickin' ass and havin' a blast with us…These guys rock, so keep your eyes and ears out for them. Richie & Sue are officially on vacation, so we hope they have a blast when they hit Disney later this month…Also in other news, while surfing through the Big ED website Randy & Big ED Alumnus Master P found that less the a month ago, people we're STILL asking Dr. Phil for advice in his old Ask Dr. Phil column ..LOL!! Speaking of advice, our resident Advice Columnist VJ has been busy acting in a play, but don't fret, he'll be back answering your questions and giving you all the life guidance you'll EVER need…Miss Dana made a rare appearance at Mario's and we couldn't of been happier, now if NEEEEEIIIIILLLLLLL shows up one of these days, all will be right with the world again! AND JeffWinston.com has a new Jeep with cool reflectors. Now back to the hiatus, the plan was to take sometime off, relax, write new tunes, etc…We'll when your Big ED and duty calls, you HAVE TO DO WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO, so after what will end up being a 3 week rest, we will be back at Side St. for Big ED's Babe of the Month contest on Friday Aug. 26th!!! But that's not all, just 2 days afterwards, we'll be heading to NY's Otto's Shrunken Head Tiki Bar & Lounge!! We also have a lot of EXTREMELY COOL things in the works at the moment, so definitely stay posted to the site to find out what we are up to…hehheh. We're also in search of more street teamers, photographers, and quite frankly anyone who thinks they can help the Big ED cause. The Big ED Bus Trip #3 "No Party Til' Arty" was a success and we'd like to SINCERELY thank everyone who came aboard for yet ANOTHER night of drinkin', debauchery, and most of all friendships!! We'd ALSO like to thank everyone who came to the pre-Bus Trip BBQ at Mike D's house…from Cliff diving over the picnic table to Matty (John Bonham) falling off his chair in laughter, it was another great day of memories preserved in time and captured by Martini (THANKS MARTINI!!) for all of us to enjoy for the rest of our lives…Speaking of enjoyment, The JeffWinston.com "Best Of" Awards are up and Big ED kicked ass, so make sure you check 'em out! Now, we'll be heading to Mario's Café in Derby on Friday July 29th. This is the LAST SHOW before we begin our Big ED hiatus for a month or so…NO, NO, NO, we're NOT breaking up, we've just decided to take some time and work on some new material, update the website and FIND a photographer and MORE street teamers!?!?!?…If anyone is interested in either taking pics or promoting, please E-mail us at this site, leave a message on the messageboard, or catch us in public!!! During the hiatus, we'll also be sending out a press-kit to all Rock radio stations, college stations and record companies, so make sure you request US!!! 27, 2005 Right to the point…Big ED's Babe of the Month 9 was a success and we have lots of people to thank for it, so herrrrrrreeeeee we go….Thanks as always to Bob and the AWESOME staff at Side St. for once again hosting this monster event, Melissa for being crowned the NEW Big ED BOTM, Meg and Lindy for making it an extremely close contest, Martini for capturing the madness that is the BOTM contest, UltraRadio.com's , Fee aka Feelonious Funk for jumpin' on bass during the contest and giving the ladies some bottom end (He normally gives them Jaquim…LOL) and of course, UltraRadio.com's morning man (Except on Thursday's when VJ of VJ's Guide to Life is rockin' the mic) Steve P. aka DJSteve for starting off the show with a swift kick to the ass AND performing with Strep throat!!! Speaking of UltraRadio.com, Happy 4th Birthday!!!!! Congrats to Randy, TC and the whole great staff of peeps that make UR as successful as it is…NOW…Friday, July 8th, In all ages show, we'll be playing Big Jim's Birthday Bash -A Night of Candles, Cake and Condoms at the legendary Toad's Place!!!! Not only will WE be shaking the building to it's foundation, but Web of Addiction, Vengeance, Bent, our close buds- INK, TymePeace (Who will be performing a very special final performance together) and of course the B-Day boy's own MEGAHERTZ will be there to complete this all-star, non-stop, ear shattering ROCK SHOW!! This ones gonna be good..woohoo…we can't wait! And then, just 1 week later, Saturday, July 16th…It's Baaaackkkkkkk!!!!!! Big ED's Bus Trip #3 "The No Party Til Arty" Show is upon us..and here's the deal…We plan on having a Big ED BBQ at Mike D's house from 3pm til' 7:30pm -The admission to the BBQ is $10 and includes Hot Dogs, Hamburgers and beers, BUT if you're going on the Bus trip …it's FREE..THAT'S RIGHT….FREE!!!!!!!! The bus trip is $30 and covers your BBQ, beer on the bus, admission to the show, AND YES, ONCE AGAIN, A ride back to your vehicle!!!!! WE'RE COMPLETELY INSANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Due to the short notice of this bus trip, We REALLY need to ask for ticket money ASAP. so we can secure the bus!! 19, 2005 First off, Happy Father's Day to all the Mac Daddies out there!! And now, you're regularly scheduled news....What a freakin' week!!!! 5 Shows in 9 days and we're showing no signs of stopping. 1st, We played an impromptu gig at Jimmies Seaside in Stamford last Thursday, then on Sat., we headed to Manhattan to play The Continental (Thank you Richie & Sue for coming out), Then on Sun. we went to the coolest club in Worcester Ma.,The Lucky Dog Music Hall, and then on Weds, we headed back home to lovely New Haven..lol..to play a B-Day Bash for our buddy and resident columnist VJ at UltraRadio's HDL @ The Alchemy..And then we played another impromptu gig (this time at The Corner Pocket with only 1 ½ hours notice) for Mike D's Birthday Bash (Not our Mike D, but Mike D, the owner of The Corner Pocket. Our Mike D was unavailable so our old brother Ron Zombie filled in for the night)…whew!! It was an amazing week, but we're thirsty, hungry, STARVING for more, but more on that in a minute. Many great reviews on the "EGGS" CD.. 1 , 2005 Well, well, well. We did it!!! The 1st Big ED CD "EGGS" is out and selling like hotcakes..LOL! But where to begin, so much has happened the last week or so, So we'll try to recap the best we can…Here it goes….1st off our deepest heartfelt sympathies go out to the families/friends of 2 local performers, who tragically lost their lives doing what they loved this past week, Spyder, a 22 yr old pro wrestler who tragically lost his life while performing Sat Night…Although, we didn't personally know him, Our brother Ron Zombie tells us he was a talented kid with a lot of heart and passion, and the wrestling world as well as the rest of the world lost a great person…On another somber note, we also lost Tymepeace vocalist Tom Swanson, who also passed away doing what he loved to do…We've shared a few bills with Tymepeace , and are also close friends with Tom's wife Kelly and nephew Chris…It's truly a major loss to the music scene and he will be sorely missed…The folks at Snookers in Ansonia and Megahertz put together an amazing benefit (To support Tom's wife Kelly and their 6 children) this past Sat., that we were honored to be part of ..A major pat on the back to Big Jim, Eric the sound guy, Snookers and the who's who of local bands/friends that dedicated their time and support to this worthy cause, it was extremely inspiring…Now, onto some happier news…Big ED's "EGGS" came out to a rave review in last weeks PLAY Magazine, Big ED's Top 10 Mix was featured in Friday's New Haven Register and the Advocate showed it's professionalism by printing a non-politically motivated "Review" (LMAO!) of EGGS, be sure to check it out and feel free to e-mail them and tell them Thanks from Big ED..LOL! Also, for some great reading, google our "Critic" Brian G LaRue and read some of his highly intellectual poetry. Judge for yourself and let us know on the messageboard what you think of this modern day Shakespeare..LOL. Anyway, We HEADLINED Toad's for the 1st time and much like almost EVERY Big ED show, there was some controversy…We'd like to apologize to Steve P. and Spicy White Chicken for what went down AND the end result..THESE GUYS ARE AN EXTRAORDINARY BAND, and it's a shame that everyone missed this unbelievable bunch of musicians…We'd like to thank Sick Ticket, who released their CD, as well as said goodbye to their fans for now…Kaos from Order, from New York they came and ROCKED the FUCKIN' House, you guys are true Rockstars! And what can be said about Nasty Disaster that we haven't said already, our metal brothers through and through kicked METAL ASS, even when abruptly shutdown..METAL!!!!!!!! Now, onto our show…Big ED SPECIAL THANKS goes out to Laurel and Mike Caprio (Too much to mention), Sue for being our Twinkie, Jimmy D for being there on time..hehheh..Ron Zombie for joining us onstage for a few tunes (as well as breaking and fixing our bass amp..LOL), Martini for taking pics, Miss Sarah for being our sexy Merch girl, Matty from the street team for keeping his eyes on everything, Master P, BITCH, INK, DysFunkshun, as well as The NB/Northford crew, and Mikey V for representin' and quite honestly ALL of our closet friends and family (Too many to mention..LOL)…You made it a very memorable night for us, and we will never forget it. We now have CD's, bumper stickers and the infamous Big ED shirts for sale, so for anyone interested, e-mail the site and we'll get you what you need A.S.A.P.! …Memorial Day went off without a hitch. We had a cook-out at Mikey D's house on Sunday. And then for Monday we have to give special thanks to JeffWinston.com for having us at his humble abode and letting us drink beer and break bottles at his house..LOL! …ROADTRIP anyone??? We're headed to New York on Sat. June 11th to play the rescheduled Continental show, and then we're off to MA the next day to play the world renowned Lucky Dog Music Hall on the 12th! 25, 2005 Big ED will be playing the Tom Swanson Memorial Benefit at Snookers In Ansonia at 4 PM. There will be bands there all day and night, so please try to get down there at some point in the day and support. The time's have changed for the Toad's show by a half hour. Kaos from Order, our buddies from NYC, will start the night at 8:30 PM. If you can make it to their set, please do. They rock and the majority of their fanbase is in NYC, so come show them some CT love. At 9:30 PM, our brothers, "The World's Heaviest Metal Band" Nasty Disaster, hit the stage and sing about, well, METAL!!! At the 10:30 PM slot is Sick Ticket. At 11:30, we come on, make a lot of noise, and release our new critically acclaimed (HI-OH!!) album, Eggs. The first 250 CDs are numbered and signed by the whole band. Many thanks to Jon Cooper and Nick Scalia at PLAY Magazine for their continued support. And did someone say "New Shirts!" No? Oh, well there'll be new shirts anyway! And at 12:45, Spicy White Chicken closes the night with the soothing sounds of Steve P. It's a great day for music, so rest up and get ready to rock out with yout c**ks out!!! 20, 2005 It's been awhile, but we've been EXTREMELY busy!!!!!!!!! 1st off, good luck to Gina Martini who DJ'd her final show at UltraRadio.com a few weeks back..Martini was instrumental in pushing the boundaries of Internet radio, by promoting and playing more local bands than any other personality (She especially promoted Big ED!!), we'll miss her on-air antics, but we'll see her at the shows! Speaking of UltraRadio.com, DJSteve Pertesis (Frontman of Spicy White Chicken) just celebrated a birthday and now has a website for all to enjoy, StevePertesis.com is up and running (There's still lots of construction going on, but stop in and visit him anyway)…Speaking of Spicy White Chicken, they are one of the 4 AWESOME acts we have slated to play our Big May 28th Toad's (1st TIMEHEADLINING) CD RELEASE PARTY !!!!!!!!!!!! Sick Ticket, Kaos from Order, and the bad boys of Nasty Disaster will complete this solid line-up for the Memorial Music Meltdown Show!!! And speaking of the CD Release, here's a few details…..Big ED will drop "EGGS" our 1st full length CD on the 28th…We're only bringing a limited # of CD's to the show (250 to be exact!!) The CD's will be sequentially numbered and autographed by every member of the band, as a thank you for all the support you guys/girls have given us…there's a few surprises on the CD, so you'll have to listen to it very carefully..LOL!! We'll also have brand new shirts!!!! The show itself is shaping up to be a classic, so please try your best to get down there, we're putting ALOT of effort into this one!!! 21, 2005 Breaking News….CONGRATULATIONS goes out to Big ED stickman, Ant "AJ Fros" Frosolone, for 1) celebrating his B-day this past Sunday, and 2) getting ENDORSED by Smith Drums USA!!! Anthony just signed a deal, and his new kit is being custom made as we speak (look for it in late June-early July)!!!! WAY TO GO Antonio!!! Well now that the dust has settled on Big ED's April Murf Marathon, we'd just like to thank everyone (AGAIN!! We know, we're just REALLY thankful!) who came out and supported, and let us do what we love to do another day. You guys indeed, rock. Speaking of rock, a few special thanks go out to Mark Cook (Cook's Café) and his whole staff… although not the most packed show to date, Mark and his staff treated us as if it were standing room only..this is a very stand-up establishment and everyone should support them…Another special thanks goes out to Progmatic, with less than 24 hrs notice, these guys came down to Cook's and helped us out of a jam (with a jam..hehheh) They shook the foundation almost to the ground and are definitely a band to keep your eyes on…Let's see, what else do we have here…VJ's Guide to Life is pulling in record numbers as well it should…HAVE YOU READ IT YET!!! The brilliance this guy contains in 1 human brain is beyond belief...Don't believe us eh? Go ahead, ask him a question, WE DARE YOU!!!...OHHHHH…The All ages show planned for Friday June 17th at The (Hypocritical) Space in Hamden has been cancelled, due to the fact that they deem Big ED inappropriate for their stage (For what's appropriate listen to Nasty Disaster's Slut of Metal, Filthy Drunken Metal Bastards, Satan is Cumming, etc..!! LOL!!!)..So we'd like to apologize to all the kids who aren't allowed to go to Toad's and were looking forward to this show for this inconvenience (for example, North Branford, East Haven, West Haven, North Haven, Branford, Hamden and New Haven etc..Middle and High schools), we'll do our best to find other all age, non-judgmental venues…BUT, for the kids that can go to TOAD'S, we give you Big ED's Memorial Music Meltdown Sho !!! LIVE, Saturday May 28th, Memorial Day Weekend!!! We've secured quite an eclectic line-up for all to enjoy on this day, and we guarantee NO ONE will be disappointed (we'll go into further detail on each band in future news)! Let's just say the KAOS is gonna be BIG, SICK, NASTY, and extremely SPICY!!!!! 11, 2005 We made it!!! And we'd like to THANK EVERYONE who came out and supported us on the April Murf Marathon Tour…but it's still April and we're NOT done (More on that later..hehheh)!! We kicked off the "AMM" at the Pocket with another "Night of Bigness" with Big Shot…MAN…What a show, we got really drunk (Surprise!) and just had the time of our lives (Probably one of our strongest sets to date..Woohoo!). After that, we made our way to UltraRadio.com's HARD DRIVE LIVE at the Alchemy!!!! Special thanks to E-Bomb (Voted #1 Club DJ in the upcoming Advocate Readers poll), Randy B. (Station manager for 1 of the top 3 Radio stations out of 40, UltraRadio.com, as voted by the peeps in the upcoming Advocate Reader's pole) Steve P. (For his Spiciness), Eric and Dan the Sound guys, TC (#1 Radio personality as voted …you get the idea..LOL..), Al (Owner of the Alchemy), Chris (Alchemy Co-Manager) and Master P. for being major parts in making the BIG ROOM happen. Big ED became the very 1st band to EVER play the Big Room on the Big Stage and the night was a great success!! Not only we're we treated to Self-Made-Soul and Q, but Nasty Disaster stole the show!! Our metal brothers brought Metal to a whole new level by dedicating "Satan is Cuming" to the pope, unveiling their new soon-to-be classic hit "Bitch, Don't Break My Fuckin' Balls!", and just plain tearing the place up! Awesome job guys!! Speaking of stealing the show, hmmm, I think there's something we're forgetting….OHHHH….DID ANYONE CATCH OUR FEARLESS FRONTMAN "THE WILDCHILD" Cliff Cronan JUMP from a height of about 30-FEET over the rest of Big ED during the new crowd favorite "Where I Stand", only to get up and continue the song ???? This is something you will regret missing for the rest of your lives..YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE!!...but don't fret Ed heads, It's videotaped and now available for your downloading pleasure!! ..And just when you think that'd be enough Big ED for the week…WRONG !!!!!!!!!! The Big ED Bus Trip #2 was a major success even though the deck was stacked against us!! The Continental (Where we supposed to go!) got closed down by the NYC Health Dept. the night before our show, and we weren't notified until late morning/early afternoon on the day of the trip!!! So here we are, with a bus that's already paid for, a ton of beer, a gallon of polish and about 50 people ready to party in NYC with no place to go!!! So what does Big ED do??? I'll tell ya..KEEP THEIR WORD..We worked our asses off (Especially our manger Laurel!) so no-one would be disappointed. Our trusty Manager (Who was in NY celebrating her B-day, mind you..Happy Birthday Laur!!) was on the phone, online and visiting places in literally a (Murf…heehee) marathon against time!! She went above and beyond, and we are VERY APPRECIATIVE..WE LOVE YOU LAUREL!! After QUITE a few phone calls, Laurel ended up getting in touch with our old friend Ross Byron (Kaos From Order, The Ross Byron Show, and TLC's What Not to Wear..lol) and he ended up hooking us up with a show in Brooklyn. Special Thanks to Frank Wood, his staff, and the Brooklyn Crew at the Grand Central Bar (The Chicken Rules!!!) for being some of the nicest and coolest people we've ever had the pleasure of jamming for!! To take us on the shortest of notices and treat us the way they did, we'll be forever grateful!! And Kaos From Order, what can we say about that crew…they're tight, they rock, and most of all, their our friends. You'll get to see them in CT VERY SOON (More on that later as well!) and you DON'T WANT TO MISS THEM!!!!!! As for the bus trip…WOW…1st A Very Special Thanks to Big Josh for making us that AWESOME sign..You Rock Big Josh!! Thanks to Tim the Bus driver (with the patience of a saint, the sense of humor of Satan..hehheh) for tolerating us. Thank you to Sue & Richie for bringing the name tags!!!!! A special thank you to Martini for stepping up and taking pics from the past shows especially the bus trip. AND last but not least, THANK YOU to every single individual that came along for the trip..We're really thankful to be surrounded by such a great circle of friends and fans..Give yourselves a round of applause, we do. Oh, and thanks to the crackhead who sold Bradshaw that nice bicycle for $5….what a steal…HI-OH!!!!!!!! Now, This Friday at Cook's Café in Naugatuck Big ED and Nasty Disaster join forces again in a night of Metal, Booze and Zombo's Tattoos!!! As usual this show isn't for the weak of heart, so leave your Grandmas at home!! This week also we'll debut the new advice column "VJ's Guide to Life"!! 2005 WHAT A FRIGGIN' WEEKEND!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to every single person that came out and supported us on one of our biggest weekends to date!! 1st off, PLAY magazine, are you kiddin' me??? These guys are so totally supportive of us, and feature us all over this weeks issue…PLAY magazine Fuckin' Rocks (You'll be hearing more about the PLAY magazine/BigED friendship in upcoming weeks)!!!..Make sure to come to their 1st year Birthday Bash this Wednesday March 2nd at BAR. There'll be free pizza and presents starting at 6 PM and going to whenever. We'll be there so it could be very late! Then the TOAD's show, HOLY SHIT, one of, if not our best show to date..hands down. So many old friends, family, peers, and new fans were in attendance, just a really great vibe all around. 2005 Jimmy D got iced!!!!!!!! It's true, Jimmy D. raised almost $200 in less than 24 hour for the Special Olympics by jumping into Long Island Sound for the Annual Penguin Plunge!!! It was 29 degrees with a sheet of ice on top of the water. Next year Jimmy plans on raising a lot more fundage for this cause, so please keep an eye out for future plunges and continue to support Jimmy and his unselfish behavior. JeffWinston.com's long awaited sequel to "Loose Cannons" is in the process of being edited, and from the sounds of it, THERE'S A TON OF Big ED footage, so keep your OTHER eye out for that one!! The Big ED radio interview conducted by Dan Masselli of Beethoven.com is up, so take a listen.. The "Babe of the Month" 8 contest at Side St. Grille was insane, and without a doubt, THE BEST ONE YET!!!! This contest just keeps getting better and better if that's freakin' possible !! Special thanks to Without Ray for starting the festivities and rocking out as usual!! And congrats to their new singer Rebecca for having her 1st show be so successful. Keep up the great work! Special thanks also go out to our 3 "Celebrity" judges: John-John, Kelly and Bob (The owner) for calling yet another close contest…Mike "Big Daddy" Winston.com has a new website with some AMAZING pics, so please take a stroll over there when you feel like being AMAZED..hehheh…A BIG night at Toads is coming..that's right…BIG SHOT and Big ED together for a night of Bigness!!! If it gets any bigger we'd have to call it HUGE night and BOTH change our Band names, so we'll just keep it a Big for now..LOL…2 Days after that show, Big ED is taking part in a "Tsunami Relief" show to aid the victims of the terrible Tsunami tragedy. It'll be at the at the Corner Pocket in Orange, so please come down and support the cause. Lots of other good stuff coming up, but we'll save that for next time. 2005 Hey hey kids!! Well, 2005 is startin' off with a bang and we're gonna keep the momentum going!! We just did a show at the Pocket with the guys in Spicy White Chicken and what can we say but…. HOLY MOTHER OF GOD'S CREATURES SMALL AND LARGE!! What a great bunch of guys and just INCREDIBLE musicians! Special thanks to Ultraradio.com's Steve P. (GOD!) and Fee (A Quakeem wielding, bass slappin', bad ass!!)..KEEP YOUR EYES ON THESE GUYS!! Another special thanks to the local bands that came out and supported us as well (INK, 6 Second Crush, CO2, The mighty MEGAHERTZ, etc..!!), As long as we all continue to support each other, the CT music scene (And world for that matter!) will HAVE to take notice. Speaking of locals, there's a lot of younger, up and coming bands getting ready to hit the scene (they can't make into most shows, but support the scene every other way possible!!) and leave their mark. One, for instance is our good buddies in Darkness at Dawn, please take the time to check out their website and give em' a listen..They ARE the future!! A few members of Big ED just conducted an interview with Dan Maselli of Beethoven.com!! He is a HUGE supporter of local original music and just a really great guy. You can hear the interview, Sunday, Jan. 23rd at 6am on either Beethoven.com (the internet version), 1290 WTMI AM Radio, or 106.9 FM WCCC the Rock!!! We gave lots of props and shout outs to our peers (basically, the whole list, listed above, plus a few more..LOL!!) so please take the time to listen. We have lots of BIG (ED…heehee) shows coming up including, the long awaited, 1st BigED "Babe of the Month" of 2005!!! It's #8 folks and we're pulling out all the stops! 2005 Holy Shit!!!!!!! What a way to end 2004!!! Toad's & Crazy Joe's…where to begin?? Okay, we'll start with Toad's..Once again a MAJOR thank you to MEGAHERTZ for having us on the bill, and to Phil from Smack7 (Smackseven.com) for the use of his bass pedal (You guys Rock!!!)!! The pictures of this show are AMAZING, thank you as always to our Photo Goddess Lisa, and a special thanks to Mike "Big Daddy" Winston.com (High RPM Studios)…Jimmy D was late, so another special thanks goes out to (Big) Eddie Reed for his heartwarming opening announcement..Heehee..you rock Eddie!!! Special shout-outs to Mattie and Stetson..North Branford representin'!!! Did someone say Twinkie??? Jimmy D redeemed himself by donning the life-sized Twinkie outfit (Thanks for the costume Phyllis..We love you!!!) Thanks to DJ Steve for offering to fill-in the Twinkie outfit (Twinkie fill-in!!) if Jimmy D didn't make it. Check him out January 14th with us at the Corner Pocket. Ron Zombie joined us onstage (his first time on Toad's stage. We busted his cherry!) for "No Sleep Til' Staven" & "Big Balls"..Our Santa outfit was stolen, and there was a HUGE brawl at the side of the stage (There are rumors swirling that there weren't enough Twinkies to go around and that's when all hell broke loose!!) And as if a night with Fogg, Smack7, Disposable Heroes, and the mighty MEGAHERTZ wasn't enough, we still had a show the next night with the Bad Boys of WithOut Ray! This was a BigED 1st..NO..not sharing the bill with these guys, but by making a last minute decision to setup side by side and have a simultaneous jam at the end of the night (Very Special Thanks to Little George (GeorgeHyde.net) from MEGAHERTZ for grabbing an ax and ripping through at least 4 songs with us (he probably played more, but we were drunk and don't remember..hehheh)..He SMOKES!!! Speaking of George, now that we think about it, our "No Sleep Til Staven (We actually changed it to "No Sleep Til' Iraq" for Mark who is shipping out there in Feb…Go kick some ass and come home safe brutha!!!) hat was stolen this night AND our Santa outfit was stolen the night before..hmmm..if you see Little George shake him down..LOL!!! Special thanks to UltraRadio.com's Gina Martini (Listen to her Weds. & Fri. nights!!), and Suzie Q for stepping up and taking pics (We thought our Photo Goddess wasn't going to make it!!). Another special thanks goes out to Terry a.k.a."The BigED Brew Crew" and Keith & Michelle (RedChinaBlue.com) for offering BigED a place to crash after the show. All in all, it was a night for drinking, nudity (NOO, it wasn't Mike D's ass this time, it was actually a full frontal during WithOut Ray's (Those guys are nuts) set!!) friendship and family..Thanks to everyone who supported us this year, And we promise to make a lot more noise (some would say, literally..HI-OH!!!) in 2005!
